On September 2, 2002, a tornado carved a half-mile swath
through downtown Ladysmith, Wisconsin. The storm damaged
or destroyed nearly 60 buildings, and affected most of
the downtown area.
Employees from our Ladysmith and Medford facilities quickly
responded. They assisted the Red Cross in setting up a
temporary daycare site so that those with damaged homes had
a safe place to leave their children while cleaning up or
repairing their property.
Contracted catering help and a truckload of bottled water
and soda was sent from our Medford facility to help take
care of the many volunteers. Employees set up two
distribution sites and served over 3,000 meals a day during
